Thank you i am doing a bigger resolution render, this one took around 3 hours... Subsurface scattering boosts render times to oblivion...

Ok, so now I'm curious. What did you use SSS on?

Well i have it only on the rocks, but the rocks have three layers of different materials and each material has different settings on the SSS so it would give more depth and texture on it. I know that most of these wouldnt be necessary but i like to make it as good as possible most of the times i fail though and the result is bleh...

Wow, I am impressed! I rarely use SSS, it's such a drain on resources. The rocks do look very good, so you must be doing something right!

Ok i am done with the bigger version, you should be able to see a bit more detail on the rocks. If you play with the SSS settings you can make things look really realistic sometimes, for example wet stones or ice you saw that on the "hunter and prey". But as you said it drains your resources and boosts the render times :(

The rocks look great, although I admit it's hard for me to tell the difference. Perhaps you could do a tutorial...

I suck at tutorials... and my english are not that good... and to tell you the truth i havent seen any tutorials for the sss around...
You could pick a simple material and start playing with the sss settings and make sure you save each render so you can compare results, at least thats what i did at first so i could grasp which setting does what. Hope i was of some help to you.
